Chores

The children at Angel House will begin doing some chores to help the staff and contribute to the household.

I didn't get a pic of it but I had 5 kids downstairs help me pick up trash after graduation on Sunday. We also had Jonas, Mia, Hope and Samara help wash down some of the outside toys. The children absolutely loved it!

It's a start - and certainly something that should continue. With Sandy and Madame Valet getting the children to make their beds and fold their sheets and help with breakfast we are well on our way to getting some good habits formed!

I just got an email that some of the girls were helping that laundry staff wash underwear too and put it on the line to dry! Geez - I need to get my kids at home to do that!

I am so happy to see this. Work is a blessing (as opposed to toil) and it helps develop good character and discipline. This is also great for helping kids understand that they are really part of the household and that their lives are important- God didn't create us merely to consume and enjoy. Learning to work for others now will help them learn to work for God's glory as they come to know and love Him. It seems that this could also help to make these childrens' transitions in to homes with their forever families a little bit easier and more comfortable, since they'll finally have some habits they can carry with them from one place to the next. It will be better for us parents, too, when we don't have to spend the whole of our days UNdoing everything they learn at the O! Bravo, TAs!!

So cool! Now we can teach the kids the Barney Clean Up song.

Okay, maybe not!

Great stuff happening at the O! Thank you so much for all your efforts and hard work. You are all such blessings!
